Brisbane City Hall
Facing King George Square and bounded by Adelaide and Ann streets, is the classically inspired, columned city hall. The bell tower offers panoramic CBD views. Guided tours of the hall are run Monday to Saturday.

Customs House
Once the centre of a bustling waterfront area, the heritage-listed Customs House is now an educational and function facility operated by the University of Queensland. A small art gallery has permanent and changing exhibitions and there is an excellent brasserie overlooking the Brisbane River.

Roma Street Parkland
Located on 16 ha in the heart of Brisbane, this new park is billed as the world's largest subtropical garden in a city centre. The park is a botanist's delight with hundreds of unique specimens, including 350 palms. Its network of pathways offers access to the park's shelters, seating and barbeque facilities, and vantage points with sweeping vistas of the city surrounds. The gardens also feature many unique artworks. Climb aboard the Jelly Bean Express or Lollipop Express for a 15 minute trackless train ride around the various parkland habitats ($5 adults, $3 children).

Treasury Casino
Now serving as a casino, the 19th-century Treasury Building in George Street is open 24 hours a day. The restaurants and bars keep the patrons refreshed and the best of Brisbane's bands perform nightly.
